Chief Koti believes that Sports is:

 

•   A unifier. With reference to the South African story illustrated in Invictus, where the Springbok World Cup win resulted in a stronger sense of Ubuntu amongst South Africans following the Aparheid Era. The love of sports can bring people from all walks of life together to achieve a greater good.

• An economical entity that provides a means to an end for sports people and their communities. Prominent players have managed to change their communities as a result of their performance, patronage and success across various disciplines.

 

• A tool which can be used as a means to keep children off the streets and mould them into respectable men and women.

 

• A form of discipline. Sports provides a rounded and grounded outcome.

Sports in Zimbabwe is an area where we can make a huge impact in our country and across the continent. There is wealth of talented African born sports women and men excelling across the globe all whilst giving back and developing their communities. These sports players are the continents ambassadors and will be the resources we use to promote endorsement, recognition and growth.

THE CHIEF KOTI FOUNDATION

Sports such as cricket, rugby and soccer require a lot of equipment which is not easily accessible to those without means. The aim of the foundation is to support sports development for the underprivileged. I am blessed to be in a position to harness the resources I have to create opportunities for children with this passion, to help them realise their dreams and excel.

"Having grown up around sports in Bulawayo, I would often travel between Beitbridge and South Africa with my team mates and family. I fell in love with Football first at Muchingwe Primary and transitioned to Cricket. Exposure led to a love for Tennis and I soon discovered my talent in Volleyball. From there the coaches recognised my all rounder skills which led to a return to Cricket and introduction to Rugby in my teenage years"
